Beginning of My Story
Hello there!
Welcome to my blog, Tall Girl Meets World. I'm Kaitlyn and I'm heading into my final year of university. Why Tall Girl Meets World? Well, I'm 5'10", so I'm definitely above average height for a woman here in Canada. Many people comment on how tall I am when they first meet me, so I figured I would embrace that quality of myself. That's where the first half of my blog name came from.
As for the meets world part - I've been accepted to an exchange program at Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden for the fall. I thought the best way to document my journey would be through this blog by sharing photos and interesting updates on my life as I navigate my way out of my comfort zone and routine.
Right now, I'm sitting in an IKEA store, feeling inspired for my trip while surrounded by Swedish meatballs and minimalist furniture. I only have two days left in Canada until I head off for four months and I’m beginning to feel a little anxious for the seemingly never-ending travel I have ahead of me. Three flights and one plane ride stand between my takeoff location and my destination. Thankfully, I'm already set to go in terms of packing.
In the past, I've only travelled to Cuba and New York City, so I'm really excited to experience the culture and lifestyle of Scandinavia. It will definitely be an interesting adventure travelling solo and I can only hope I ask for a train ticket to the right place and I don’t end up in Norway!
Then again, life is always an adventure and I'm certainly excited to experience all that my exchange has to offer. From now until Monday, I'll be (impatiently) awaiting my journey. Stay tuned if you would like to hear about my attempt to make my way through Sweden, navigating through a city which I have yet to learn the correct pronunciation of.
Feel free to leave comments on anything that interests you or if you have any questions about studying abroad and I'll try my best to answer them. If you're curious to know more about the girl behind the blog, check out my about page.
Well, that's all I have for you for now, so I'll leave you with one of my favourite quotes:
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page.” –Saint Augustine
Until next time,
Kaitlyn xo
