Quick + Easy Morning Oats

I can't be the only one who rushes around in the morning, wishing I'd actually gotten up when my alarm went off. While I'm getting better at planning for the next day, my morning routine is still a bit of a work in progress.

By the time I get to breakfast, which is the last step in my AM routine, I'm usually down to the last few minutes, debating if I should just grab a piece of fruit to go along with my coffee. Whenever I do this though, I find that I end up hungry within the hour. Thankfully, my mom passed along her go-to oatmeal recipe that I really enjoy and can easily make in under 10 minutes.

Morning Oats | Tall Girl Meets World

I know what you're thinking. You can just grab one of those pre-packaged bags of oats, pour in some water, and toss it into the microwave for 2 minutes. There you have it. Well, those aren't the oats I'm talking about here. These homemade oats are heartier, aren’t packed full of sugar and you can customize the milk and toppings to get the perfect bowl of oatmeal.

Quick + Easy Oatmeal Recipe
Makes 1 serving

  • 1/2 cup of rolled oats

  • 1 cup of milk of choice (I typically use vanilla almond milk)

  • 1 tbsp of hemp hearts (optional)

  • Fruit such as bananas or berries (optional)

Cooking Steps

  1. Boil milk of choice on the stove on high

  2. Once milk starts boiling, add in oats and turn heat to simmer for about 3-5 minutes

  3. Add toppings of choice and enjoy immediately

That’s not so hard, is it? So there you have it. Quick and easy morning oats that will keep you full until lunch.

If I know that my morning is going to be too rushed to actually make breakfast, I will often make overnight oats, so I can just grab the jar and a spoon on my way out in the morning.
