Macarons & Meringue

Every time I'm browsing through my Instagram feed or checking out Pinterest, I seem to come across pictures of pretty coloured French macarons. I, myself, am definitely guilty of posting pictures of these sweet treats! These delicate pastries have become a huge trend lately, and they certainly don't appear to be losing their popularity any time soon. From bakeries bringing out these little treats to specialized stores dedicating their display shelves to the colourful pastries, macarons are everywhere! 

On Saturday, I spent the day in Toronto apartment hunting (again), and figured I would pick a few macarons up to surprise my mom with while I was in the area. AG Macarons was opening up a new store in the downtown area, but since I was in the opposite end of the city, I stopped by their other shop. Upon walking into the bakery, we were greeted with a display stand filled with brightly coloured macarons in so many flavours! I decided on a box of six macarons in the following flavours: coconut, mint chocolate, chocolate hazelnut, red velvet, chai latte and cappuccino. While I was there, I also picked up a box of meringues as they were packaged so adorably, I couldn't resist! 

I think that my family consumed the macarons in about 3 minutes flat! Each flavour was so unique and yummy. The meringues were gradually consumed throughout the day, but the box of 20 definitely disappeared by dinner time. Turns out I didn't have my macaron fill after my birthday was over, and it only took me a week to get my hands on some more!
