5 Fall DIYs for the Home
Autumn is the perfect time to bring out your sweaters and spend time cuddled up at home to escape the chilly weather. Whether you have a large home or a bedroom in an apartment, check out the following 5 DIY tips for decorating a fall-friendly space.
1. Spice up your pumpkins
I'm not talking about pumpkin spice lattes, although now would be the time to treat yourself to one at Starbucks. I am however, talking about adding glamour to your typical orange pumpkins.
Whether you paint your pumpkins, cover them in glitter or wrap them in lace, your home is sure to stand out with these festive additions. If you only have a small space to work with, you can set a couple of pumpkins on your window ledge or on a coffee table.
If you love the idea of a personalized pumpkin, check out this tutorial for making a monogrammed pumpkin.
Don't want to cover your house in glitter? Try painting your pumpkin white and covering it in lace like Lauren Conrad did.
2. Light your candles, sit back and relax
If you're interested in adding candles to infuse your home with seasonal scents, these cinnamon stick wrapped candles are the perfect craft for you.
Go ahead and light those candles while sipping on some warm apple cider for a cozy fall experience.
3. Make use of those fallen autumn leaves
This DIY sparkly leaf garland is sure to attract attention to your walls. If you're using artificial leaves, simply follow this tutorial here. Real leaves will take a bit more attention, as you'll need to coat them so they remain preserved, but it can be a fun way to recycle the leaves from your lawn.
4. Spruce up your table
An easy way to add some seasonal colours to your home is to create fall centrepieces for your tables. I love the look of these faux ceramic pumpkins that are set out on a simple wooden tray.
If you have a smaller home or an apartment, this is an easy way to incorporate pumpkins without taking up too much space. Also, since these pumpkins aren't real, you won't have to worry about replacing them anytime soon.
5. Incorporate fall flannels
This list wouldn't be very Canadian if I left flannel off of it. Since it's the perfect season to bring out those flannel blanket scarves and button-ups, why not add flannel coasters to your space as well?
I always have a stash of coasters on hand, so I can avoid staining any surfaces in my room or apartment. Not only do these coasters look super cozy, but you can also toss them in the wash if you spill on them. Bonus!
Don’t want to DIY alone? Invite your friends over for a fun night filled with crafts and cocktails! You can send them an adorable e-invite for your fall fete through Paperless Post to help get everyone inspired for the season. I’m a sucker for anything pumpkin, so this cute invite and matching envelope definitely caught my eye!
