Gift Guide 2017: Traveller
At the beginning of the month, I came to the realization that I was actually finished with my Christmas shopping. Shocking, I know! During my browsing for others (and maybe a bit of shopping for myself), I came across these 10 fabulous gift ideas fit for a jetsetter.
1. Away Suitcase
What better gift for a traveller than an unbreakable, beautiful piece of luggage? Away Travel has a variety of size options, colours and nifty extras like packing cubes and monogrammed bag tags. They also recently paired with Gray Malin—a photographer who specializes in gorgeous aerial photographs—to create a custom line of suitcases. My personal favourite (and the one I actually just ordered) is the Alpine print shot in my home country.
2. Herschel Backpack
Travelling with a backpack is my favourite way to go, and hopefully your favourite traveller agrees! They're sturdy, keep everything contained and balance the weight out on two shoulders unlike a tote bag. My go-to bag is my Herschel backpack and I highly recommend the Vancouver-based brand. This Little America backpack looks classic and has a padded laptop sleeve.
3. Polaroid Camera
How fun would it be to instantly print photos off during travel—especially when meeting a bunch of new people! Using a Polaroid camera always makes you think twice about what you're snapping a photo of, so the end results are sure to be meaningful captures.
4. Travel Journal
There's something about a travel journal that just captures the emotions of travelling. Whether it's writing about the smells, sights or simply a specific memory, this is absolutely my favourite way to look back on a trip and remember exactly how I was feeling in the moment. Grab one of these for your traveller and they can enjoy reminiscing in their adventures as well. I can't get over how cute this travel journal from Rifle Paper Co. is!
5. Water Bottle
A water bottle may seem like a very simple gift, but it's also very practical and useful. Once past security gates, having a reusable water bottle saves the cost of buying multiple water bottle throughout the travel journey, minimizes waste and also keeps water cold and refreshing.
6. Kobo eReader
For the traveller who always has a book in their hand, an eReader is the perfect gift to keep them entertained on their long journeys. It's lightweight and won't take up a ton of space like a pile of books would.
7. Passport Cover
Travelling never looked so pretty! This frosted floral passport cover keeps the most delicate piece of travel equipment—your passport—safe and sound. It also helps hold those boarding passes you certainly don't want to lose.
8. Sudoku Book
A cute Sudoku book is perfect for those long layovers or when you can't seem to fall asleep on the plane. This book works great as a stocking stuffer for the traveller who is a frequent flier!
9. Travel Cord Roll
Another super practical gift is a travel cord roll. With an abundance of adapters, chargers and headphones, things can sometimes get tangled up or temporarily lost in a suitcase. This case ensures that all of these things stay packed and are easy to access mid-flight.
10. Desktop Globe
When the travel savings run low, this desktop globe is a useful cure for wanderlust. Your traveller friend can take a close look at the world right before their eyes and maybe even select their next travel destination!
